International Student Orientation
Preview and Preparation

Students Outside the United States

  • Check out the Arrival information, Steps 4-6, on the student information pages of the U.S. Immigration website that detail the arrival process at the port of entry.
  • Some students may attend multiple orientation sessions, depending on the degree program they are seeking. Be sure to check with the academic advisor in your program of study to get information about any planned orientation sessions.  Also, Freshmen students must be present in Victoria for Jaguar Journey, the orientation for incoming Freshmen students.
  • Notify the International Student advisor by email to international@uhv.edy and let us know you plan to attend the scheduled orientation session. If you schedule a flight, please share the information and let us know which airport you will use.  This may help you avoid additional travel to an incorrect location.
  • Prepare ahead for financial resources and transportation needs. The university will accept payment in several ways. Arranging your banking with a financial institution in the United States will facilitate the transfer of funds needed for tuition as well as for housing and transportation needs. Then you will be ready to begin your studies by purchasing books and making tuition payments immediately upon arrival. Please email the Office of Student Billing and Card Services if you have questions about transfer of funds for tuition payment at UHV. Please note: If you plan to use a credit card for tuition payment, the University does not accept Visa card for payment.
  • Get familiar with the UHV website!  It is very helpful to view the pages of information you will be required to know about when you arrive.
