Library Databases


 

The VC/UHV Library uses your UHV student account to authenticate your off-campus access to the library databases. Student accounts also provide access to student email and on-site access to the computer labs. Although Student accounts use UHV Student ID numbers for usernames, student accounts are separate from MyUHV accounts. MyUHV accounts are separate and distinct accounts.


In order to access the library databases from off-campus, you must activate your student account by changing your password.

If you have have NEVER logged into UHV Student Email before, your password will be your date of birth in the format of MMDDYYYY.

New accounts will have the password set to "mmddyyx!" where:

  • mm is the student's two digit birth month
  • dd is the student's two digit birth day
  • yy is the student's two digit birth year
  • x is the first character of the students last name in lowercase-letter format
  • ! is the exclamation point character or Shift+1 on the keyboard

This initial password is pre-expired.
A pre-expired password means that you must change your password in order to use your account. Passwords can be changed on-site in the labs or remotely via the email server. Thereafter, you will be required to change your password every 90 days.

NOTE: Your new password must meet the following restrictions or conditions:

  • The password is at least eight characters long
  • The password contains characters from each of the following three categories:
    • Alphabetic characters, uppercase or lowercase (A - Z, a - z)
    • Base 10 digits (0 - 9)
    • Special Characters: ! @ # $ % ^ & * ( )

  • The password cannot contain the user's account name or parts of the user's full name that exceed
