UHV Student Accounts

  • Student accounts provide access to student email, on-site access to the computer labs and off-site access to the library databases

  • Student accounts are automatically created when a student applies, without students having to complete an account application.

  • Student accounts are not related online to MyUHV or Blackboard. Each are separate and distinct accounts.

Usernames

The student account username is the student's seven-digit MyUHV ID. The MyUHV ID is assigned by the Admissions Office and is found on the student's admissions letter.

Passwords

New Student accounts are created with pre-expired passwords meaning the student must change the initial password to a new password before the account can be used.

The initial password will be the student's birth date in the format of MMDDYYYY where:

MM is the month
DD is the day
YYYY is the year (all four digits)

Leading zeros are required for those months or days that are single digit.

Passwords must be at least eight characters long. Please see the Password Guidelines and Changing Your Password documentation.

A password lifetime is 160 days. That means that students are required to change their passwords every 160 days from the date of their last password change. Note: The system keeps a password history file. Students cannot re-use their previous nine passwords.

Example

John B. Smith has a MyUHV ID of 1234567, and was born on March 4, 1981. His username would be 1234567. His initial password would be 03041981.

Email Addresses

Your UHV student email address is your initials plus a three-digit number followed by "@uhv.edu". For instance, John J. Doe might be "JJD123@uhv.edu". To find out your email address, connect to the UHV Password Self Service site:
http://idhelp.uhv.edu

You may receive a security warning. It is safe to continue. Select "Update Personal Profile". Login with your UHV student account username and password. (This is the same username and password that you used to login to email, but do not enter "uhv\" in front of your username.) The information displayed will be your first name, last name, username and email address.

Password Self Service

While you are at the site, please set up your password recovery questions. This will allow you to reset your password should you forget it in the future. From the Personal Profile page, select the "Question" tab. (You may also reach the questions page by going to the UHV Password Self Service home page and selecting "Setup Password Recovery Questions".) Select two of the questions, enter the appropriate answers, and click "Save".

Should you forget your password in the future, connect to the Password Self Service site, and select "Reset Forgotten Password". You will be required to enter a new password and provide the answers to the questions you previously selected.
